“You get some people who come to the church and think, OK, where do you meet singles right away, do you have a singles ministry?” said Lumen.

They don’t. However, as Charity, Jonny, Emily and Cody show, there’s hardly a need for one. The opportunities for meeting- a skate park, a coffee shop, a gym, Christian rock concerts, festivals, and car shows- are abundant. Charity and Johnny met as they both volunteered at the church, and now both work at SHEC full time.

“I had always wanted to find a Christian guy,” said Charity. “Finding Jonny was a huge blessing on me after I found God again.”

On May 5, Jonny was working the soundboard for a wedding. The lighting was dramatic, chiaroscuro, and the music was ethereal. Charity was standing and holding back tears. It was, after all, her younger sister who was getting married. After the 15-minute ceremony, Charity joined Emily and Cody in the receiving line. Then the congregation of guests filed through the skate park to wish the new family a happy and pious future.
